Family zucchini bread recipe

As promised earlier this week we bring to you our family’s zucchini bread recipe that has been passed down for generations. You can purchase your baking zucchini, and eggs here at the Farm stand. We are restocked for Saturday and continuing the sale on squash, zucchini and cucumber. For those who love pickles, the pickling cukes are available. Enjoy your weekend and we will see you Saturday from 9am – 4pm. Please let us know what you think of the recipe.

Zucchini Bread
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup oil
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups shredded zucchini

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour 2 bread pans. In a large bowl mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. In a smaller bowl mix together sugar, eggs, vanilla, oil, and zucchini. Add contents of small bowl to large bowl and mix completely. Divide evenly into your 2 bread pans. Bake at 350 for 60 minutes.

A produce sale is on already!!

It’s truly amazing what a difference having some warm temperatures and bees on the property has made in the garden pollination department. We were waiting to get the produce in a few weeks ago, and now it has taken off in abundance! This Friday & Saturday squash, zucchini, and cucumbers are on sale 3 for $1.00. Additional Friday produce includes: the first couple Cherokee purple tomatoes, spinach, lettuce mix, red cabbage, beans, cherry tomatoes, peppers, onions, micro-greens and herbs. Pair the produce tastiness with local items from our farming friends to make a spectacular meal. Swing into Farm for that straight from the field freshness.
Want to make your dining table more festive? Stop into Goods and pick out a small table arrangement, maybe a spring table runner or handmade tablecloth. Do plants make you happy? If so, grab one of the beautiful white orchids to adorn the center of your table (in Farm). Whatever your needs, we want to provide a location where you can support local farmers, be it from our back yard or those around us that are a bit farther off the beating path.
And lastly since it is a Thursday, a photo from June 9, 2019. The days before we even had the first produce stand or website. Hoping to see you soon!

Thursday offerings

Hump day is over and we are on the home stretch to the weekend. The Farm stand is stocked with fresh eggs, honey, coffee, elderberry, homegrown produce, cookies, herbs, red cabbage and micro greens. The shelves are starting to fill up and we haven’t even harvested the slicing tomatoes yet. We can’t wait for all the summer offerings to hit the stand this year. There will be some mighty tasty dinners this year at the Hill house. Possibly at yours too with delicious non-GMO produce and local offerings from the Farm stand.
Goods will be open tomorrow with all things spring, summer and patriotic to adorn your home with beauty. Have you stopped in to browse? You can tomorrow from 9am to 6pm. We will keep it short tonight as we need to finish up some projects before dark. Have a great evening. J&L

It’s finally happening!!!

The change to redness is finally upon us…. the tomatoes are ripening! Everyone get up and do a happy dance. 💃🕺 Fresh produce is restocked for Wednesday and we have new ice cream cone cookies from Love Bug Baking Co. available starting tomorrow.
Both buildings will be open Wednesday from 9am to 6pm, Lisa will be here on the farm all day trying to catch up on chores needing completed. Stop into Goods tomorrow as she’ll appreciate a break enjoying some cool air while you shop, and remember to sign up for the monthly raffle.
We are once again nominated for the 2023 Best of Georgia. There is a link near the top on our website homepage which will take you straight to the vote area. You can vote daily, and it is appreciated. While there don’t forget to sign up for The Daily Farm News which is what you are reading here, only delivered straight to your email.
Have a terrific Tuesday! HHFG.

New tasty items for Tuesday!

Tuesday arrives with new canned items to the Farm stand. Welcome yummy summer squash salsa, mixed berry jam, and more strawberry jam. Garlic dill pickles will be coming soon as they are currently acquiring that delicious garlic flavor. Coffee was restocked today along with more non- GMO produce from the gardens.
The website is nearing completion as we find more ways to bring news and our farming mission to you. Jason has worked hard with many late nights to make it just right. Please take a look and let us know what you think. Have a fantastic evening, stay cool and we will see you at the stand Tuesday.

What a wild week!

This week we were able to have both of us on deck here at the farm as Jason had the week off. It was a packed week with not enough hours in each day as many nights ended close to sunrise for a quick nap, and then start again. Our anniversary was a quick 20 minute blip of finally being able to jump in the pool, and then back onto more tasks. Many projects were completed with some still to be finished another day. One of the major projects was completely revamping the website, and adding the ability to subscribe to what is now called The Daily Farm News. This change was prompted by our unfortunate forcing to remove our signage at the road, and that we have heard too many times that you are not seeing our posts on social media, sometimes for months. If you want to continue to see our social media posts you will need to like, love, comment, etc. to keep it fresh in your Feed. Or now simply subscribe on our website and never miss an update again as it will come straight to your email. The email will have the entire article with the photos so no extra work required on your part!
Monday Farm offerings have some new items available. Welcome acorn squash, blueberries, sweet banana peppers, and broccoli florets to the Farm stand. Quantities are limited at this time so the early bird gets the best selection. If you are a canning guru and love pickles we have pickling cucumbers and fresh dill also. Calling all bakers who love zucchini bread, stop in and grab yourself one or more of our baking sized zucchinis for the best tasting zucchini bread around. Later this week we will share our family zucchini bread recipe that has been passed down.
Happy first Monday of June already tomorrow, and have a wonderful evening!

Anniversary day!

Today felt like summer is getting closer with the temperature hitting 89.1 degrees on our weather station. KGACANTO321 for those interested weather buffs. It was a busy day with Lisa working in the high tunnels tending to the produce which is starting to hit the Farm stand, meanwhile Jason worked on getting the last of the new fencing supplies to replace the rotted sections towards the back of the farm. We have to keep the 4 legged children Zoe and Cecil from finding an escape route.

Many hours were burned last night spanning into the wee hours of this morning re-vamping the Holly Hill website for better navigation, consistency, and easier to find information. Please give it a look as many questions will be answered there. We are encouraging everyone to sign up for “The Daily Farm News” on our website Home Page. All that is required is simply your email address. You will get a confirmation email that will need to be accepted. Once signed up you will get an email with the entire daily update including the photos. No clicking of links is required to view it! As always we respect your privacy and do not sell, spam, or share your contact information with anyone. By signing up you will also get an occasional email from us with discounts for purchases at the farm, as well as exclusive content.

Fresh produce was harvested today to include cucumber, squash, zucchini, yellow beans, bell pepper, lemon cucumber, micro-greens, herbs, cherry tomatoes, and green tomatoes. Stock up with fresh produce and local items in the Farm stand Saturday as we are closed on Sundays.

Goods will be open along with Farm tomorrow from 9am to 4pm. New inventory is arriving tomorrow morning to include another patriotic wreath, so don’t miss out on unique hand crafted items at great prices.

Our apologies for the longer updates lately, but a lot has been happening here at the farm. Signing off for this evening as today is our 16th wedding anniversary. We have weed spraying, a pile of mulch to be moved, and a pool visit all requesting our attention. Thanks for continuing to grow with us and hope to see you tomorrow! HHFG

Update on the signage situation….

Wow, you, our customers are awesome! The outpouring of support from everyone has been tremendous after our posting yesterday about the county inspector visit. After much research last night and an in person visit with the county today, everything is business as usual at Holly Hill other than the signage changes. The colorful happy sign is still here, but now in the front yard unfortunately! Since the roadside produce signage unfortunately will not be coming back, we have added an option on our website home page to sign up for an email of the daily newsletter. Once signed up you can chose from instant, daily, or weekly email frequency along with the option to unsubscribe if you no longer wish to receive an email. We hope that many will choose this option as we have heard many times that they are not seeing our posts on our social media sights sometimes for months. By signing up this is a sure fire way to know what is available here at Holly Hill.
Farm fresh eggs, herbs, micro-greens, and all the produce that we could muster up today has been restocked. The other local farm fresh goods are also stocked and ready to go. There are gorgeous white orchids available in the farm stand that would make a beautiful addition to your home or as a house warming gift. Unfortunately, we are still waiting on the slicing tomatoes and are considering placing some green tomatoes in the stand this weekend to help lessen the plant load and possibly assist the other tomatoes to ripen faster. Please let us know if you are interested in fried green maters.
Goods had supporters today as well and we want to thank you for stopping in. For those who signed up, good luck in the raffle drawing. Have you gotten your name in? Stop by this weekend, sign up for the raffle, browse the new inventory, and see what we have to offer.
As always thank you for continuing to grow with us and for the rallying support you have shown for our small business. Hoping you have a happy evening, and please subscribe! Jason, Lisa, Zoe, & Cecil

Road Signage Alert!

Uh oh, we had a visit from a very nice gentleman from the county today who informed us someone reported us about our roadside signs and anything else they could come up with. So to keep everything on the up and up we have removed the signs at the roadway. With that being said you will need to visit our website daily blog and / or Like & Follow us on Facebook & Instagram to keep in tune with our newest offerings. Please spread the word in any way possible as we are disappointed that we cannot have signs on the front of the property to share what is currently available. A visit to the county offices will be occurring tomorrow.
For those who are new to the website blog, Facebook postings and Instagram we post a photo of the inside of the Farm stand to show each daily harvest and availability in the Goods building.
Tomorrow’s availability is shown below for both buildings. We are open from 9am to 6pm. Have a fantastic evening, please share the newest news with everyone, and we hope to see you soon!

Oh tomatoes…

For the love of this farm girl’s sanity, please I beg you TURN RED!!! While much of the produce has begun to make its way into the Farm stand we are still waiting on our tomatoes. At this time they are holding onto their green. While we wait on these beauties to ripen, yellow beans, cucumber, squash, zucchini, lemon cucumber, peppers, cherry tomatoes, herbs and micro-greens are all stocked up for Wednesday. Local goods are also stocked to include elderberry, honey, coffee, cookies, orchids, banana bread and canned items.
Goods will be open Wednesday from 2pm to 6pm as Lisa will be at Bridgemill for what may be the final time as the produce is coming in more now. Stop by Goods to browse the new inventory that arrived on Saturday. Have a pleasant evening and we will see you tomorrow at the Farm.
